Fav Apps on the Ipod Touch/IPhone

After using the 2nd Gen Ipod touch for almost 7 months, I am still in love with it. Its amazing how much one can get out of the it. I am sure this is also the sentiment from iphone users. Whether its just listening to music or watching videos, its such a joy to use it. (I am not paid by apple...)

Its like a mini laptop for me. I put my lecture notes and pdfs of journals i have to read..check my university email/personal email all the time and when i am bored of the lectures(most of the time) i just check bbc news or digg for the latest news.

And i have never been bored ever since i had the ipod touch. Whether its waiting for buses/trains or the dreaded 12 hour bus i always take to london and back, there is always something to occupy me...I can only imagine what i can do if i had the iphone...

I always hear people complaining about the battery life of the iphone..so i figured i sort of have the best of both worlds with the ipod touch..I can use it as much as i want without thinking about missing that important phone call..( i have a really old motorola v3i). Of course this can be just me being jealous of only possessing what steve jobs calls "iphone with training wheels.

Anyway there are few apps that have been with me since the beginning. Most of them are games and entertainment stuff..here is my Fav apps..

10. Facebook

Nothing beats stalking your friend on facebook with this app. It doesn't have the annoying new facebook layout and have access to most of the functions in the web version.

9. Airsharing

I got it free when it came out and it has served me well! This is what i use to put my lecture notes and ebooks in the ipod for easy access...setting up on the laptop is easy and its just drop and drag...

8. Photoframe

I use it as a clock at night. You can choose 20 photos and it randomly displayes the pic making it a nice looking digital photoframe. Its nice to wake up to a picture of ur fav people in the morning!

7. Allrecipes Dinner Spinner

Allrecipes have such good recepies that actually work. Plus the users reviews are really helpful! so when i found this ap i was overjoyed...I used to print out receipes but now with this app i can use this in the kitchen while i am cooking without wasting paper(plus for the green in me)

6. Remote

Another cool app that make people go "WAH, seriously?".. Basically with this app the user can control the iTunes on the laptop remotely with a wireless connection ..so i usually use this to control daniel's itunes at the dinner table...=)

More apps next blog...5 more days! Edward! faster!

New Desktop theme + Ubuntu

Been trying out new desktop themes for both windows and ubuntu lately! Here's a screenshot of the new windows..

I like the orange and black theme. Its called "Zune" and you can download it here. And i also found a new cursor for my mouse. Its the Wii pointer!

Its pretty cool considering i have been using the original windows cursor all my life..

As for ubuntu, this is it.

Thanks to edward introducing and helping me customise my ubuntu, i feel like now i have 2 brand new laptops! Its really refreshing to switch back and forth between the 2 OS.

Most of the time i use ubuntu because i also have microsoft office installed here. The only time i really use windows is when the aMSN in ubuntu goes hay-wire and when i need to sync my ipod. Other than that i stick to ubuntu. But now that i changed that theme for windows i might just revert back to windows.

I think the trick to keeping your laptop fast and efficient is to reformat it once in a while. At first i had to reformat it because there was something wrong with my wireless settings. But after that i realise if u do it often then your laptop really feels brand new. =)
